About us

Our Story

Mindful Roots Tea, is an award-winning loose leaf tea company founded by Elle Wanless in 2019. My passion for tea led me to become a Tea Champion in 2018 through the UK Tea Academy, I learned so much from this experience that it has inspired me to educate more people about tea through our virtual tea tastings and ignite the same interest and passion and encourage people to demand better tea! I am also currently a Tea specialist in training.

Recently named one of the UK's 100 most inspiring female entrepreneurs as part of the f: entrepreneur #ialso campaign, Elle creates tea with the intention to nourish your mind, body, and soul.

" I have suffered various ailments from a young age. My Jamaican mother used to give me and my siblings herbal teas when we were feeling unwell.

When I was about 10 years old, not long after moving back to the UK, I would get stomach pains. My mum gave me some mint tea to help my stomach ache and nausea. She took me to the doctor for my stomach, and bear in mind this was many years ago, he told her not to give me any more of THAT kind of tea as their knowledge of plant-based remedies was not as well known in western medicine.

Since then, studies have shown that mint tea has been shown to aid with stomach ailments, and this is why I believe in the healing power of traditional remedies and natural ingredients. So many plant-based remedies exist and have been used for generations.

This has stuck with me throughout my life, and as someone who suffers from anxiety, I have found that tea has been a great comfort for me which I wanted to share with others.

The practice of drinking loose leaf tea can be an incredible tool for bringing balance to your mind and body health. I know that tea has incredible benefits that many people aren't aware of, so my mission is to create tea blends that have those health and wellness benefits and teach people about them.

I believe that a cup of tea is more than just a beverage—it's an experience. I wanted to create a range that was full of flavour, based on traditional remedies and could have a fun element. I use organic ingredients where possible and I do not add any sugar, flavourings or preservatives to my blends. " Our loose-leaf tea and ingredients are sourced from all over the world, ensuring that every sip is an experience.

In a world that can be chaotic, our goal is to help you slow down and reconnect with yourself, so you can take care of both your mind and body. I want you to feel empowered to make decisions about your health—and that starts with making conscious choices about the products you consume.

I am committed to creating a 100% natural, ethical, and sustainable product for both the environment and our customers. With each purchase from Mindful Roots Tea, you are directly contributing to our mission of better health for ourselves, each other, and the planet.

Our Packaging

At Mindful Roots Tea, we believe in helping the environment wherever possible. That's why we only use loose-leaf tea and not teabags!

Our loose-leaf teas are made from natural ingredients—leaves, flowers, fruits, and herbs—and they're free from any additives or chemicals. The only thing we add to our teas is a splash of freshwater.

When using loose-leaf tea leaves, you'll find that you can compost them in your garden or even use them to add nutrients to your plants!

We also know that many people are looking for ways to reduce their carbon footprint, so we take great care to ensure that every aspect of our business is as environmentally friendly as possible.

From our packaging material down to the materials used in the boxes that we send your items in the mail, we do everything possible to keep our impact on the environment at a minimum. All our packaging is made from 100% recyclable materials, making it possible for you to reuse them over and over again.
